I believed trusted followed  the said methods -all talk about. Realized that’s a dead end. So this thinking -out of the framed concepts-THEN  tried tested and now certain that’s the way. This goes not only for golf but for all aspects in life. In a capitalistic world where only money talks the truth is hidden. There is no or little money in it.

PGM UMW TEMPLER PARK MASTERS DAY 2

Berry Henson

                                                       Michael Tran
American  Henson Maintains His Lead

BERRY Henson shot a second round two-under-par 70 to maintain his lead in the PGM UMW Templer Park Masters today. The American led at the halfway stage of the RM200,000 event with an eight-under 136 total.

In second place at Templer Park Country Club in Rawang was Malaysia’s PGM Tour Player of the Year, Nicholas Fung, who kept the pressure on Henson with a 70 of his own. He finished the day on seven-under 137.

James Bowen (70), who won the PGM CCM Rahman Putra Masters in January, was joint third alongside Vietnam’s Michael Tran (71). They were on five-under 139.

Englishman Steve Lewton finished the round with a one-over 73 and slipped to fifth on 140, while Japan’s Kodai Ichihara (69) and Malaysian Shaaban Hussin (74), who was joint second after the opening day, were tied for sixth on 141.

Australians Michael Moore (74) and David Lutterus (70), Miguel Tabuena (71) of the Philippines, Malaysian M. Sasidaran (71) and Mitsuhiko Hashizume (69) of Japan were grouped on 142 in ninth place.

Henson, a 33-year-old Californian who won the PGM Tour’s ADT Clearwater Masters in 2011 and followed that up with the Philippine Open on the Asian Tour a week later, said he found the Templer Park course in good shape and was looking forward to the next two days.

“IT is my first time playing in this event and so far the week has gone off really well for me,” said Henson, who turned pro in 2003 and finished 19th on the Asian Tour Order of Merit last year.

Speaking at the end of the day, Nicholas said that he was hitting the ball confidently and that he would endeavour to continue with this form through the next two rounds.

“I have just got to try and continue playing the way I am,” said the Sabah lad. “I played reasonably well these past two days and hopefully it can continue like that.”

He added: “If there was an area of my game which I should improve, then it must be my putting. If I can sink a few more putts tomorrow it should really help me stay in the hunt.

PGM UMW TEMPLER PARK MASTERS DAY 1

Henson Takes the Lead
Shaaban and Nicholas  a stroke behind the leader at Templer Park
AMERICAN Berry Henson took the first round lead at the PGM UMW Templer Park Masters today but Malaysia had two players just a stroke back.
Henson shot a six-under-par 66, but in-form Shaaban Hussin and reigning PGM Tour Player of the Year Nicholas Fung were right on his tail in a tie for second on 67, alongside Englishman Steve Lewton.
In an event co-sanctioned with the Asian Development Tour (ADT) and a prize purse of RM200,000, the tournament got underway despite the haze. Evidently this and the intermittent light rain did not adversely affect the leaders.
Nor did it appear to hamper Vietnam’s Michael Tran, and Australians Blake Mcgrory and Michael Moore, who finished the day at four-under.
Two winners on the Tour this season – Lindsay Renolds of Canada and American James Bowen – were joint eighth with 69s, while Malaysians Mohd Iylia Jamil, Iain Steel and Mohamad Azman Basharudin were tied for 10th on 70, together with Venezuelan Wolmer Murillo and Adam Novak of the United States.
Malaysian amateur Lion Goh and his compatriot S. Murthy, Japan’s Masaru Takahashi, Shane Mchenry of Australia and Filipino youngster Miguel Tabuena were the other players who were under-par in the first round, having carded 71s.
Shaaban, winner of the PGM Penang Tournament a fortnight ago, said he was pleased with his start here and put his 36-place finish at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday behind him.
“Yes, I was disappointed with last week’s performance, but I’m happy with how I played today. I hit the ball solid throughout the round and sunk a few good putts. Hopefully I hope I can continue like this and do the same as I did in Penang – and win again.”

Chien Wins Peneng Satellite Event
Twelve-year-old Bryan beaten in a five-hole PGM Tour playoff
IT took a five-hole playoff to determine the winner of the PGM Tour’s Penang Satellite event today, and at the end of it all, Chien Hau Tan came through at the expense of 12-year-old Bryan Teoh.

On a tense and exciting third and final day at Penang Golf Resort, both players finished on 2-over 218, which then led to the sudden death playoff. After four pars apiece on the 18th, Chien birdied the hole to clinch the crown.

He fired a final round even-par 72, while Bryan, who held the overnight lead, carded one-over 73.

Kevin Ian Chee, who ensured that amateur players filled the three top spots, also managed a 72, as he finished two strokes off the pace, while Johari Mansor had a 75 that gave him fourth spot on 221. Johnny Tan (76) was fifth on 230.

Twenty-two year-old Chien, who plays off scratch and only recently returned to Malaysia after studying for a degree in Sports Management in Iowa, US, where he played four years collegiate golf, said he would be turning pro now and will focus on playing the PGM Tour full-time.

The top five spots on the leaderboard get a year’s exemption to the Tour full-time.

“I will also focus on preparing myself for the Asian Tour Q-School next January,” said Chien, who added that his father had the most influence on him taking the sport.

“I started golf when I was 12 years. And today I am very happy to have won this PGM tournament. It is for my father, as well as for me,” he said.

So far as the tournament itself went, Chien said he found the conditions rather different to those experienced in the States, but all the same, enjoyed it.

Bryan mother’s Amy, said that while the Form One student from Penang’s Jit Sing High School finished runner-up, they were more than happy.

“We really didn’t expect Bryan to come this far to start with, so, while he missed out on the title in a playoff, we are pleased with his overall performance. He came into the tournament seeking exposure and with no expectations of winning. So, for him to come so close (having led or shared the lead in the first two rounds) is really something of a bonus.”
